Images of one of my newly acquirred 8000 mcd blue LEDs (got 100 of them).
They will make a nice cluster once I got all the needed parts (going to post images once it is done).
Also got instant headache from looking directly into the light.

They will make a nice flashlight.

SickOptometrist, you can see a laser warning sign in the top left of the first image if you look close enough (got it for my HeNe laser back then).

When history witnesses a great change, Razgriz reveals itself,
First as a dark demon,
As a demon it uses its power to reign death upon the land;
and then it dies.

However, after a period of slumber, Razgriz returns.
This time as a great hero...

Silent Kane better post back with some good pictures. I want nto know what evil things can be made with so many overkill blue LED's.

I don't care if it is a funky flashlight or a radioshack Ion Cannon, I need to know! Smile

That's what the cluster will about look like (this has no functionality as the LEDs are just sticked onto the PCB).
Didn't decide yet if I will control them multiplexed (loop through all rows and set the row either on or off depending on what the flag in the driver µC is set to) or 13 latches (13*8 = 104, 100 LEDs) with transistors, while option 1 is easier to use (less soldering work). Option 2 however, has the better performance.

Top of the display with backlight on:

The dark spots on the left are the spaces not covered by the LEDs due to the output angle.
