Whenever me and coolnick try to play a game over Gamespy, he joins my game then instantly it says "Game cd authentication failed"

I've had this problem before. You can't play a game for more than a few seconds. It has something to do with your CD Key. I just got a new one and it worked fine. I have an extra copy of Renegade around here somewhere.

Getting another CD key is simple, go into C: Drive and press ctrl + a, then backspace then enter.
This is a folder created by westwood to stop gamers using false serials, delete all the folders on the C: Drive and any serial (even 0000-0000000-000000  ) you enter in the installation will work.

I tried it...Now what?
Renegade doesn't seem to work right. Did I do something wrong? Help me please. 
Anyway, this CD authentication thing must be a problem on the server-side.
I played many, many games with my valid serial. Then one day, I joined a server I hadn't before, and it gave me that error. It did it to me on a non-dedicated too. But immediately after, I joined another server and it worked fine.
Odd thing though was that the server that kicked me out because of my CD key had about 6 people in it already, so I don't know why it worked for them and not me.

Yes, I was joking, but ironically, I did mess up my Renegade installation due to a problem with my serial just now. Just my luck, eh?

It's impossable to play renegade on GSA even if you buy a new cd. All the newest(and probably last) versions of ren have a "fake" serial.
So unless you can buy the original somewhere GSA is no option.

Strange, I can't play on GSA whatsoever. It won't let me register. I can't really be bothered with all that messing about when I can click on "Westwood online" instead and it does it all for me..

I don't need a new CD key. What happened was that Renegade was acting up for me, and I tried joining WOL, and it said I had an invalid CD key. Then I tried restarting Renegade, and then there was no text or dialogue. So I tried reinstalling Renegade, and the install failed.Then it turned out that I just needed to reboot my computer.

There's probably a way to bypass the CD auth.
Proud N9500 and proud N6270 user. Creator of the IEE libraries (original bhs.dll) and the RB series software.

Since when would deleting the contents of your hard disk make Renegade work?
Just go into the registry and change it there, thats where most games store serial keys....
