It seems that Yahoo has decided to sue Xfire for supposedly infringing on their patent. Since Xfire says that they aren't, and have couter-sued Yahoo.

Direct link to the petition again Yahoo: http://www.petitiononline.com/Xfire/petition.html

I don't belive they have counter sued them yet, or the article I read (Before you posted) was outdated.

Not only that, but they have bought out ASE (All Seeing Eye server browser) which is an alternative to GSA. The ASE website has been completely redisigned.

There's obviously a lot of support for Xfire. That online petition had only about 1900 people an hour and a half ago. Now there is over 2700.

You're an idiot. Maybe for the million Xfire users it does matter. Ever think of that? Of course not, your head's too far up your ass.

from the Xfire download page:

A free tool. A small download. A simple installation.

A free tool. Nobody's paying the web-based Xfire organisation a penny. They are providing a free service for people who choose to use it -- and consume bandwidth on Xfire servers. in other words, they're leechers using a useless program that only benefits people who play games far too much......just use MSN, your friends will probably be signed on there. And for all the people using the internet, a million users is nothing.

I have taken the time to look at those links you provided though, this one in particular:

http://www.xfire.com/xf/modules.php?name=XFire&file=cmspage&body=xf_lawsuit

basically they're telling you to moan on the petition and moan to yahoo! services. Boy I sure would love to be an yahoo! customer service agent who had nothing to do with the lawsuit.

also, has anyone ever noticed that when some idiot makes a high profile petition that gets people nowhere, and it gets like six thousand signatures, they are all full of morons who write lots of bullshit that'll never be read by the target audience(yahoo in this case)? I mean if the internet is good for one thing, it's giving you an idea of just how many morons there are infesting the planet. it reminds me of that one petition to get blink182 not to break up, there were like 7.5 thousand signatures on it. :yell:

Oh yes, it's such a bad thing that people are willing to give someone a service that they don't have to pay for!

You may not use it, fine, whatever I don't give a fuck. What does it matter to you if we want to support an instant messenger that we use? I didn't make you read this thread. Shit, the topic itself told you what this was about, and yet you still read it and decided that everybody's efforts to show Yahoo their disgust for their actions are pointless.

I'd rather have a free server browser/in game messenger giving competition to Yahoo!, than to have Yahoo! dominate the industry and charging for their crap.

You sir, are a idiot.

Xfire provides some very useful things such as the ability to join the exact server your friend is playing on, the server's players, name, and how many people are in that game currently. Plus probably my favorite feature, the ability to message people in-game.

Join a clan and you'll start seeing this program a lot more useful than Yahoo's shitty programs.

j4sp, or jasp, would you be in a clan that plays that many games that you need this program? I used to be in a call of duty clan( [xXx] )that also played unreal tournament 04, and even then it was shitty to try and get a game going in UT because people couldn't be arsed with 2 games as a clan. I think we even played 3 games at one point...

xfire is a silly program that you don't need unless you game too much. the only thing of any importance is the messaging people in games, but even then it's worthless. just message your damn friends on MSN and have them tell you what game they are in; not a problem if your friends don't lack discipline and check their MSN every now & then. lol do you even require that your friend is logged in to XFIRE for you to message them? all MSN has to do is add a function that lets the msn new message alert.wav be hearable while the target has a fullscreen 3D game running, and they have a program better than this one.

and wow a server browser, like we don't already have one that the others inherit their functionality from.

You're only bitching about xfire because you can. Are you paying for their servers? I didn't think so, so shut the fuck up. If they want to offer a service for gamers then let them. They and their users (ie. me) don't want to hear you bitch because you're too stubborn to use the service that they provide. It's not my problem you're an idiot, but I guess what they say is true, "ignorance is bliss."

whoa.
