I think they are probably trying to get them. I'd agree with suspicions over N. Korea. Iran on the other hand, I don't believe are after nukes.

Isn't it more of a level playing field now?

Why don't you try disarming first before telling others to?

If we disarm first then others dont have to. IF they just nuke us rather than getting rid of them, they can keep them! Boom, new world power.

and no it isnt a level playing field because we wont ever use them, they're just there as a symbol of power, nothing more. We cant say the same for them, they could use them at any time.

Isn't it more of a level playing field now?

How is it "more of a level playing field now", when we have almost 10,000 nuclear weapons, and they barely have a couple?

DaveGMM

Why don't you try disarming first before telling others to?

Lol... That's like going up to a police officer/soldier and telling him he should throw his gun away if he wants the criminal/enemy soldier to do the same. Laughing

In never-never land this would work perfect. But im afraid we (well mabey not you) but most of us live in reality. That place were people are out to hurt us and we must defend ourselves.

All the more reason that we must go into North Korea as soon as we have enough forces free from Afganistan and Iraq.

And get ourselves nuked? Hahaha... no offense but that would be a very large risk that we probably will not take.

We might try to push Iran around...but I doubt we would want to mess with North Korea, especially since they have nukes and would likely use them.

Believe it or not... which country was the only country to ever use nuclear weapons on another nation?
Am I supposed to not trust the North Koreans because they have a chance to use nuclear weapons, or not trust the Americans because they have and most likely will again use nuclear weapons?

Is easy to only look at your side of the equation... If Japan had won World War II you guys would've been viewed as monsters.

The nuclear weapons used there probably saved lives believe it or not, because if we would have invaded Japan, it would have been D-Day every day. Also, why wouldnt you trust the US with weapons? If we wanted to use them by now, we would have Wink

So basicly what you are saying, is you want to wait around until they get 50 or 60 nukes and then say its time to go instead of when they are at the begining of there program. Thats soooo smart.

If a Korean said what you just said, you'd call it terrorism.

Have you ever studied or even payed attention to anything about World War II? Japan was not going to give up until they were all dead, or we knocked some sense into their heads. On the island of Saipan the WOMEN AND CHILDREN committed suicide rather than be under American control. Not to mention that the Japanese government trained women and children to fight against the Americans. They taught them how to use sharp sticks and such.

Think of it this way, it was either drop the a-bomb or practically wipe out the Japanese population and lose hundreds of thousands of more men. Hmm...hard decision, eh? Not to mention that Japan was just about finished producing some more weapons for war like some newly designed planes, and they were sending submarines to the states when we dropped the a-bomb. Granted we didn't know about this at the time, but think of the outcome if we didn't drop the a-bomb and make them surrender.

And if an American soldier did such, what would that be in your eyes? Bravery? Defiance?

frightening thought, sharp sticks vs a nuke

and some sharp sticks, no doubt.

If Americans committed suicide, I'd pity them for such stupidity. The end result of killing yourself is much worse than being under another nation's control.

The fact is, they were training the women and children to fight Americans.

Can't think of anything else to nitpick, so you're dwelling on your last point still?

And what if they were going to get tortured?

Coming from a relgious standpoint, it's still not as bad as committing suicide. I can see it *being* more justified, but I still think it'd be a stupid idea. Plus, it's not like the Americans would have tortured them anyways. At least, for the most part. I can't say for sure because I havn't come across any information on torturing in WW2, but, then again, I havn't tried either.

I daresay if your country had just been nuked, you wouldn't have such a clear certainty of how you'd be treated had you been taken prisoner of war.

I'm talking BEFORE we dropped the bomb. It's kind of hard to take POWs when you're no longer fighting a war.
