This is probably the only commercial I've ever seen that has made me cry before. I guess I'm just a sucker for stuff like this.

Yeah, I didn't cry, but I really liked that commercial. Too bad this wouldn't happen in real life.

Yeah, that was a nice commercial.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt (1918)

"The danger to political dissent is acute where the Government attempts to act under so vague a concept as the power to protect "domestic security." Given the difficulty of defining the domestic security interest, the danger of abuse in acting to protect that interest becomes apparent. --U.S. Supreme Court decision (407 U.S. 297 (1972)

That is quite touching of a commercial. It would happen i bet, if it wasn't for that 1 or 2 America Hating bastards that will always be in the airport booing them or some bs.

It wouldn't happen. People are too wrapped up in their own little world to applaud them. They probably wouldn't even notice them.

whoa.

Actually, something like that did happen in an airport... people gave up frequent flier miles, first class seats, all for some troops who were allowed to go home for a weekend and were on an overbooked flight. So much better than Vietnam when they were spit on.

I'm the bawss.

Yea, stuff like that does happen actually. I saw on the TV, some moms baked cookies just to give to the soldiers when they got back. They brought their kids with them to so they could shake hands with the soldiers etc.

The first time I saw that it gave me goose bumps. Hats off and I salute the marketing folks at Bud (and of course the soldiers) who continue to raise the bar on good, clean, entertaining commercials. You have to know that will now happen in real life because of Bud. Thanks for that Aircraft. Cool

That really is great. It is quite troubling to think that this mightn't happen in real life. It is a perfect example of how things should be...

We live in a time where taking shots at the government, the army, and our fighting soldiers are common place. It's time to give some of that respect back. Too many people don't love this great country and the government that holds it together. Too many people neglect to give the common curtousy to that man who's giving up 8 years of his life to try to give back and make a difference. To squeeze that little extra ounce of great out of our great nation. To the people in the government, the agencys who give up weekends and lesiure time at the office trying to make our lives better. To the soldiers abroad who are fighting, not just for themselves or their families, but for the families of their harshest critics. They fight for the lives of the people who protest the war. They fight for the protestors right to call their saviors murderous scoundrals. Look around you. Our country is damn grand. Why would you burn the symbol of freedom and of prosperity. "Look at the poor people in Africa who starve while we live opulently" And this is a reason to burn the flag? Because we have carved ourselves a great nation from the untamed wilds of a new world. We should feel sorry for these poor places, but at the same time feel proud that we can feel sorry. That we can say "we are lucky to not live like that". It's not luck however, it's destiny. The US as we know it today was not created on a gamble, but on the sweat, determination, and honor of millions of people. The millions of people who traversed, plotted, planned, protected, fought for, and died for, this great country we inhabit today. We've had our bad times and our good. Throughout it all we cannot lose our patriotism. Our love for this country which is just the best we could have ever hoped for. It may have its quirks and its nuances but all in all it is a pristine example of what the collective will of an entire history of people can produce. So next time you curse the government, damn the president, or denounce the war in Iraq, take a moment and think about what this country and the people who died for it, have provided for you without asking for anything in return. You shouldn't have to do anything for your country, you should want to.

*Obligatory...*
God Bless America

Phew... that was a lot to type...
