I don't get what's wrong with America, so many people here use English incorrectly, while other languages in other countries have far less of the amount of mistakes we have.
|
That's a nice run on sentence. Though, I suppose you already knew that.

Unless you're considering everything after America to be one long appositive. Which I guess could work, but it's still a poor sentence. This is all in addition to the whole "while other languages in other countries have far less of the amount of mistakes we have" mess.

Just because YOU don't care doesn't mean everyone else thinks the same thing as you. I don't get what's wrong with America, so many people here use English incorrectly, while other languages in other countries have far less of the amount of mistakes we have. I'm not like "omg I want to piss you off by correcting you", it's "IF YOU CAN'T USE ENGLISH CORRECTLY, LEARN A DIFFERENT FUCKING LANGUAGE". Meaning, stop fucking abusing this language, or get the hell out.

ey man wat jij praat doen over ander talen. jij moet egt nie denke dat je het alleen regt heb op misbruik van talen jonguh, das egt nie lauw. jij moet egt ff chillen weet juh.
Basic Englisch Translation: Hey man, Englisch isn't the only language that's abused.
Aircraftkiller why don't you start an Englisch class in the Hot Issues section, instead of spamming other threads.
Basicly I couldn't care less if people make mistakes in the ducht language on the internet. As long as they don't do it in official papers I'm happy.
You guys must have really happy lives if this is one of your main concerns.
Ontopic: If you need some people I would be willing to help, but being dutch and a busy man, I don't know if it's possible for me. I have my doubt it will work, but hey why not try it out first. At least is sounds fun.

Aircraftkiller | It's not a run on sentence. He didn't structure the commas properly. Two commas are generally used to emphasise a point but are unnecessary to the subject of the sentence.
For example:
I think The Fucking Whiner Andy is, as you can quite clearly see, a whiner.
If you remove ",as you can quite clearly see," you still get exactly the same meaning.
|
I think before you start correcting people on the forums you should look to yourself first. Emphasize is spelled with a "z", not with an "s" moron. Grammar, punctuation, and spelling mistakes bother me too, but I'm not going to go into a tirade about it. This is the internet, please learn to deal with it.

My only real problem with English is that I use the comma in incorrect areas. It's a bad habbit that used to be worse... I'm working on it.
I'm not even talking about grammar anyways. Using "it's" incorrectly can cause a sentence to be harder to read, where commas don't hamper it as badly.
Also keep in mind that everything else doesn't really bother me. It's "it's" that I keep arguing about.

Isn't there an English spelling and an American spelling? I might be wrong.

icedog90 | If you actually read my post without blowing your eyes out of your sockets you'd realize that I didn't say you made tons of errors in this topic.
|
I didn't say you did.

"Grammar Nazi" isn't even the right name to call me since I'm not even talking about grammar. This has to do with apostrophes.

Oh I'm sorry. Will Punctuation or Spelling Nazi work?

What are these common mistakes I keep making? I'd like to see you point them out instead of going on about how I made more mistakes than you in my post. The only real mistake I made was when I accidently put a comma in the wrong place. Wow, that really counts as a lot of mistakes. It wasn't even nearly as bad as yours.
|
First of all, I didn't make many mistakes.
Here are your mistakes:

1. In the first sentence, the question mark comes before the closing quotation mark.
2."A vocabulary" is not correct. Vocabulary is a plural word. There is no singular form of it.
3. Period instead of comma after "America."
4. Comma before quotation mark after "you."
5. Comma after "like," before, "omg..."
6. Period after language, before quotation mark.

Quote: | B. I already know two languages and i'm working on my third.

And your point is...? That doesn't have anything to do with English.
|
Well you did tell me to learn "A DIFFERENT FUCKING LANGUAGE."
Quote: |
"IF YOU CAN'T USE ENGLISH CORRECTLY, LEARN A DIFFERENT FUCKING LANGUAGE".

America as a whole doesn't make more mistakes than any other country. Thats a generalization with little or no evidence.
There are some differences in American English and UK english. Emphasize (ise) is one of them.
America: Color, Center
UK: Colour, Centre
There are more, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

Aircraftkiller | I'm not a grammar Nazi either. Comparing the occasional correction of your writing to the god damned National Socialist party is wrong on so many levels.
But then again, we can't all be idiot Nazis like you, because some of us take pride in being literate...

Fun fact that has no real relevance: Punctuation goes outside of quotation marks unless these quotation marks are actually quoting someone, so nobody go jump on Javaxcx, now.
And to get this train wreck back on track:
OMG I LOEV TEH CHEMWARRIRS TEHY SHOOTS TEH TUBERIUM TAHT MAEKS TEH PEEOPLE FAL DOWN.

That "simple" mistake is worse than any of the mistakes I made in this topic. Before you begin correcting me on little things, you should first learn how to say "it's" correctly.
Warranto wrote:
just a tid-bit of information here,
its= possesive form of the pronoun "it".
it's= contraction of the words "it is".
Two completely different words. It has nothing to do with grammar, and everything to do with using the correct word where it is supposed to be used.
You wouldn't say go left, have someone drive over a cliff, then make an inferrence that it doesn't matter that you mean right. Two different words used for two different meanings.
IRON-FART | Putting an extra apostrophe where it doesn't belong doesn't make me illiterate. Its just a simple mistake.

Read Warranto's quote, I think he explained it perfectly for me. Meaning, it's not a simple mistake.
It's IRON-FART's decision to either let the topic go back to its original state or to keep replying with more things that I can easily defend.

If I may make a point.
*Spoony makes a thread obviously addressed to DeathGod*
Deathgod | I'd pay money to see 20 chemwarriors harvywalk on Hourglass all at once
|
Spoony | Does this offer still stand? Because I'll make it happen, by god I will.
|
Deathgod | Sure, get me a video and I will send you something. I don't know if it'll be money, but I will send you something.
|
Lo and behold, the question asked has been satisfactorily answered! I don't think I'd be too crazy for saying the words "Topic" and "Closed" spring to mind!

Funny thread..
Surprised nobody has mentioned this, but 20 chemwarriors can scarcely fit behind a harvester. I would say four or maybe five in one line, then the next line of five, then the next and the last.....I think the last five would be far enough back to be seen by the Tower of Guard.
Hell I'll send you money if you can do it.
