Burning the flag is spitting in George Washington's face. He's the one who designed it. I'm pretty sure he'd be thrilled to see the people, that he faught the British for, burning the American symbol that he designed.

Wrong, it was Betsy Ross who designed the original flag, thirteen stripes with thirteen stars in a field of blue, arranged in a circle.
Anyway, the only time that it's legal to burn a flag, as fas as I've read, is when it is already in a very bad state, i.e. torn up badly or bullet-ridden with holes. And even then, there has to be a proper procedure to do it.
