I know and understand the great reasons for running renguard, but unfortunatley, a lot of players don't use it, and others still are having connection problems with the renguard server and lot of players are getting killed during this darn pamsg that tells them to get renguard. And not the one when they join, the one that pops up whenever it feels like, myself included after my connection to renguard was broken ( but not to my game). Does anyone know how to disable this message or can it be removed from the next release of Brenbot, because it only makes people mad, and I thought the idea of renguard was to help stop cheating not to change the gameplay to; advantage->RG user vs disadvantage->non RG user (whether it is their choice or not) . Thanx to anyone who can help.

There are some:
You have to restart renguard to change your
Westwood online nick name.
Renguard sometimes crashes and then closes
renegade (buffer overrun, network disconnect...)
Renguard sometimes has problems with connecting to the
network (It tells you then your firewall blocks renguard)
If it does not load the renguard website on renguard startup,
and u click renegade,
the brenbot servers will spam u with pmsg's and msg's and there is no fun
to play, when a window pops up every minute and say you are not
running renguard or you could be cheating Surprised

When people ask me "Plz" just because it's shorter than "Please" I feel perfectly justified to answer "No" because it's shorter then "Yes"

The Popup is seted by the ServerAdmin and is REALLY anoying!!
BR normaly just tells your not Loged in, or can't use a specific command and thats ok I think.

Mac I know, there is only one good reason in my books to not run RG, and that is, I know only a couple of people who have tried to install RG and ended up reinstalling renegade 5 times to try to get it work. Some people are running RG and they are either losing connection to Rg server, or else brenbot is not reading the RG status correctly, either way, these people don't deserve this pamsg that can make or break a game. And Crimson, I understand if you want the pamsg in your servers...but is there anyway for the server owners to make that desicion on thier own? My server has been in the top 5 WOL RG servers recently, so obviously the players are listening, (around 70% Rg acceptance rate), but please don't make the poor sods with bad connections have an even worse time. We need to be together to try and keep our shrinking Renegade community alive. I do believe that renguard and the !forcerg option have done that. But when players get mad, they go play other servers or worse, other games. My point is can anyone let me in on how to disable this pamsg, I don't know enough about renguard settings to go deleteing things in the cfg file.

Actually you can change it in the regedit. If you don't know what you're doing in regedit there should be program in a stick in the gen discussion for changing the renegade settings.

If you change nicknames enough for it to be that much of an annoyance, I'd question why you needed to in the first place..

Yes u can change it via reg file:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

But u will have to restart renguard and renegade if your Renegade is running.
I never change my nick name in WOL, but some n00bs does not know that
they have to restart renguard when they change their nick, and that's one reason for some people, not to run renguard Smile

Point is people who do have renguard running shouldn't really have to put up with constant admin messages thanks to one or two players who don't...

Don't forget when Renguard was new, RG-servers became flooded by idiots who would join, completely ignore the "You need Renguard to play here" messages, get kicked, come back thirty seconds later "WHY KICKED??????"

Som people just won't run Renguard so that is not up for debate in my opinion. It's just to hard for some people to install Renguard and too many people are lazy to run it which I understand.

The point is making it fair for all. All I think that is needed is the code being changed that it becomes a private message not pop-up (pamsg).

Ive seen it happen to other people indeed -> getting messages they need RG and stuff eventhough they were running it. No clue whats it caused by :S

dissable all the renguard notifications and set the msg interval to 10 hours.
I don't like this and usually find it stupid.

Although the best way I have found for people to get rg is to run CP1 maps, usually after a new map loads, the non-rg users get dropped Razz
