I am thinking of a forum where people can talk without being ridiculed or getting posts about "TMI", etc.

But what if they are posting really fucked up, bullshit stuff.. and what they NEED is to be ridiculed to wake them up? Razz

I'm going to take a wild stab and propose that none of us here are psychologists or psychiatrists... Consider that as you decide what "types" of posts should go there, and what "types" of responses you are going to allow.. Sometimes, allowing the world the opportunity to share their opinion, isn't what a troubled soul really needs to help them out. (see my paragraph above)

If there were ever an "off topic" or "personal issues" forum on the old official boards, it would be pretty out of place..I'd say..

let's venture to guess that, indeed, a lot of us know each other through the game and forum. I'd also guess that a lot of the people voting on this poll have thought "hey, a new forum, good idea, what's the problem?" and went for yes. But it's easy to forget that this forum was handed over to be an official forum for a retail game, not "this is the forum for my local game server, let's get to know each other".
I think adding a forum for off topics or personal issues takes away from it's purpose (talk about renegade, get help with renegade, show off renegade mods, discuss bigfixes, etc) and makes it personal/general purpose, which is pretty discouraging to someone who only wants to be part of an official community.
