open your start menu and scroll to programs - westwood - renegade and click renegade config. check that the game is trying to use your graphics card in one of the tabs...by the way has it worked at all before? sounds like a problem initialising directX, meaning either an outdated version of directX (probably not if you can run cs:source) and/or an outdated driver set for your video card.
