Alright, let me try and spell this out;

I stopped playing Renegade about 4 months ago, and only recently came back now that my class load has lifted somewhat... but the first server I logged into spammed me with Renguard Recommended popups. Silly me, how could I forget to reinstall Renguard? So I did.

At first, I always got a WOL name not found, login will probably fail message... but login never failed. I reactivated my WOL account as well, and that message dissapeared. But, my main problem persists; Renguard never registers me as logged in. Ever.

I've heard this problem is caused by a bit of server lag and you have to remain logged in for a while, but no amount of time seems to remedy this situation; I'm not gettng any firewall warnings, my system never crashes, and REnguard never gives me any error messages. I'm at a real loss here as to what the problem is.

On an unrelated note, Renguard never gives me any MotDs. What's up with that?

Thanks in advance for any aid rendered.

This "WOL name not found, login will probably fail" always happens after a reinstall of Renegade when you havent logged into WOL yet.

Just open renegade, login on WOL with your nickname once and then exit renegade.
Restart RenGuard and then it should detect your nickname and the popups and stuff should go away Smile

I have done this already, as I said. The WOL Name not found is not the issue anymore, it's Renguard telling me I'm logged in and not telling everyone else. Do I have to start up Renegade, log in to WOL, then use The ASE to log in to games?

If you'd read the Beginner's Guide that shows up when you first use RenGuard, you would know the answer to that.

I will repeat myslef again, it DOES NOT WORK. I start up ASE, select a server, and Renguard starts up. It says it's connected. I never have a MotD. Ever. Changing language has no effect. I shut off Renegade before switching servers. No effect. Renguard simply refuses to aknowledge to the host machine and it's bots that I am using Renguard. And yes, I have the latest version of Renguard and the core patch. Since everything I can read myself has already been exhausted, to no avail, THAT is why I'm looking for help here.

BTW, the Beginner's Guide NEVER showed up, although I remember reading it the last time I used Renguard.

It's probably a bad idea, but I'm going to take down my firewall for a while to see if that helps. Here's to not getting screwed over on the deal.
