I have been using Renguard for a few weeks and have not had a problem. However I have been playing for a long long time and never used Renguard before because of all the damage I have heard it can cause. In the end so many servers now require Renguard that i gave in and downloaded it.

It's better just to try it then to listen to idiots who don't know what they're doing. Many people don't download RenGuard because people tell them it's crap and they believe it.

Renguard is truely a great thing the down side is not enough people are downloading it main reason i see for this is not enough servers are runing it and people are just to lazy to take the time to download something when they can just go to another server. Now if everyone would run it then it would realy be a kick in the rear to cheaters becuase they would all be stuck playing by them selfs and the world would be a better place.

Maybe the server was half renguard... or the server was not on RG at the time.

You should start a pure-mode RG server up and offer a reward of like, some RAM or something, for the first person to go in there and show they have a cheat it won't detect. If you're secure they don't, that is.

Wouldn't really be a competition.
I know several ways to use undetectable cheats. But since we don't want cheats, I'm not going to tell anyone how to do that shiz.

Thats, in my opinion is a bad idea.
That would attract people to develop cheats!

You know that companies hire hackers to come in and try to hack them, then they close the holes. Same situation with the idea I had. You find what CAN be done, then you make ways around it being successful.

As for me, I have started using Renguard recently after getting my hands on my PC again (and C&C: Renegade) after a year away. It seems to be very stable, but the problem is I still use modem (56kbps) and so most of the time when I connect to RenGuard-protected server, I got disconnected. Damn the slow internet connection in Thailand. I intend to switch to some faster connection in a year or two and I'm sure Renegade will still be alive and kicking by then. Meanwhile, I only occasionally play RGed servers; most of the time I play on non-protected and... well, I only spotted very few cheaters. I never cheat, nor do I intend to. But there ARE cheaters out there.
Personally, I am strongly for widespread use of RG and agree that more people should use it, and when more people use it, more servers use it and cheaters are isolated in their world, playing with fellow cheaters.
Chronojam's idea is actually good, much like legal hackers which test a company's defense against evil hackers. We can ask people who know exploits in RG to come in and help "plug the hole" for little reward, can't we?
