I'vew noticed alot of people using the AOW was but no one seems to use the sniper one's is there a reason for this?

Could be because sniping in Renegade sucks.

They suck because in real life, you don't hop around like a fairy dancer shooting without the scope. In reality, you hide somewhere where nobody can find you, be very quiet, and USE the scope.

I think it's more fun to play as a 500 sniper on AOW maps and hide away somewhere (a lot better than jumping around like an idiot in a tunnel)
some of the custom maps on UNRULES are great for sniping, especially when they can't work out where you are, and all the "wtf?"'s ensue 
yet another reason 1000 snipers suck, everyone would see the huge blue flare it shoots out
