Ok, seriously, this is crazy, nutz, and total BS.
Here is how its going to work.
1. Flame a thread, you get edited, and I might stop being friendly about the edits.
2. Continue a flame thread, and I will lock it.
3. FLAME a thread AND go off topic, its gone.
Simply following these three rules will keep posts open and un-edited.
If you have something to say, that isn't on topic, or about modding, take it elsewhere.
This is a MOD forum, if you have a problem with talking about modding, and anything related to modding, take a hike.

I will also use these procedures, except I will make it clear that the post has been edited. If the replies are completely unfounded, they will simply be moved to the silo. If I can address the reply with a simple edit, I will do it so that the topic is not veered off topic.
I will not edit posts on account of proofreading the thread or reply, so I will not correct errors in posts or anything trivial like that. Nor will I try to change what you say in a reply, and if your post is edited by me I will specify it in the edited post. I will use my discretion whether to edit or move inappropriate replies.
All in all, I will be enforcing Dante's regulations.

Aircraftkiller | Insulting something isn't going off topic so long as you're insulting the subject of the thread...

bigejoe14 | I liked this forums better when it wasn't moderated.

You can have your debates in the Hot Issues forum. This place is meant to be a productive place, not a source of entertainment due to all of the senseless hostilities.

Aircraftkiller | It's absurd that anyone would need to babysit a forum because of some whining idiots who can't handle text on a screen.

You cannot be more right.
However, there's a not-so-fine line between critiquing and insulting. Dante and I are certainly not trying to restrict an integral part of this forum--offering criticisms--but really, everyone here can use their sense in judging which is which, so that we won't have to. I personally call upon everyone here, especially those of RenAlert and Reborn, to try to get along, and when a mod posts an update it should not degrade into ruthless hostility in which the original subject matter is lost. Past issues should not be brought up, and only issues pertaining to the topic at hand should be addressed. That includes dishing out cruel, baseless insults and trying to rationalize the reasons behind criticisms.

You may have to not be so blunt as you always have, ACK, with the obvous intentions of hurting the feelings of others, rather than helping to improve it. As warranto mentioned a while ago, there's a word called tact that you would be apt to apply to a lot of your posts.
I'm on Dante's and YSLMuffin's side for this one.
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt (1918)
"The danger to political dissent is acute where the Government attempts to act under so vague a concept as the power to protect "domestic security." Given the difficulty of defining the domestic security interest, the danger of abuse in acting to protect that interest becomes apparent. --U.S. Supreme Court decision (407 U.S. 297 (1972)

If your work gets called shit by the majority of the community (Not just the C&C: Renegade community) it's pretty obvious that you need to improve. If you don't want people calling your work shit anymore then you better get to making it look better. You can't always rely on your small cult following of people because they always say your work looks good. Harsh and strait forward critisizm isn't a bad thing and never will be.
You can lock and delete the flame wars all you want, but don't edit harsh critisizm just because it makes one person feel bad.

Harsh criticism will not be removed because they might hurt the person's feelings. They will be removed if they are uncalled for, baseless, or spread out over several posts (as in, first you say something sucks, and then several posts down after another insult fest ensues you finally tell why)--so let go of prejudices and just tell why you think it needs improvement.
Again, such editing or removal of posts will be left up to Dante's and my discretion.

I did not intend for it to come across as if we consult each other before a decision is made. Perhaps I should have said: "such editing or removal of posts will be left up to Dante's or my discretion.
Whoever gets to something first will handle the situation. I'm just trying to give an idea of what my ideas of moderating this forum are.
