Whether or not this is accepted by anyone, I'm posting this.
This is what I've been seeing:
I R MAK3 L337 SCRIPTZ!!!!
GIMM3 UR SCRIPTZ!!
N0!!!! U R 2 ST00PID!!
N0! I R GOTZ SMARTZ!!!
BUT I R SMART3R THAN J00 AN ONLY 3Y3 N0 H0W 2 UZ3 TH3M!!
I R AZ SMART AZ J00, N0W GIMM3!
GOM...J00 R ST00PID AN I DUN LI3K J00!!!
GIMM3 UR SCRIPTZ!!!
N0!!
GOM...J00 R S3LL FISH!!!!
N0M I R N0T...J00 R JUS 2 ST00PID!!!!
GOM...I DUN LI3K J00 AN U R BAD GUY!!!!
I just find it pathetic that this is going on. If someone makes a script don't think you're automatically entitled to it, but in the same respect, if you make a script don't keep it from everyone because you think you're the only one capable of using it right.
If someone wants to keep their new discovery and scripts for their mod, let them. It's their choice. That's what sets a mod apart from all the others. If everyone uses the same features, what makes that one mod special and fresh?
If you have a script that's beneficial to the game no matter what it is then you should give it out. There's no point in making something beneficial if you plan on keeping it to yourself. It's like finding the cure for cancer, but you choose not to give it out to medical clinics and such. What's the point in finding the cure?
whoa.

Gee, have a little optimism. No way a secret that significant could stay that way for long.

xC4pRoX | most likely the cure for cancer was already discovered. But hey the doctors don't care, they don't want to cure, they want to make you live with it. We're probably never going to see a cure for cancer because there's no "profit" in the cure...which is pretty sad.
|
And ... you're a fucktard,
If doctors had the cure to cancer, they'd use it. They want to help sick people and make them live; they don't want to just take money from them.
If the insurance companies knew about a cure to cancer, they'd want people to have it so they wouldn't ahve to spend all that money on hospital stays and experimental therapy.
If hospitals had a cure to cancer, they'd want to give it to people so they could keep them alive, rather than having them die. Dead people don't pay bills.
Or are you such a fucktard that you honestly believe that someone who's dedicated his/her entire life to helping people would let them die to make a few extra bucks?
And shepherds we shall be,
For thee, my Lord, for thee.
Power hath descended forth from thy hand;
That our feet may swiftly carry out thy command.
And we shall flow a river forth to thee,
And teeming with souls shall it ever be.

Renx | Set_Animation scripts, and so on, don't have the power to save millions of lives. That point was irrelivant.
What's going on here is more like an invention. The creater may use it for himself, or distribute it. If that's the case, they'll most likely put a patent on it because they don't want others claiming it as their own.
|
That point was completely relevant. It wasn't meant to be a perfect match, but it gave everybody the idea I was trying to relay.
I'm talking about stuff that would be truly beneficial. Like, per say, SK's source code. It is his creation and he can choose to benefit from it, but it would also greatly help many new projects to be formed and overall help the game to be better. It's his choice, but he should have allowed it to be given out so that the game could be improved. If it was something small like the Set_Animation scripts, they're not going to spark new discoveries and progressions in the game. Those are just made to do what they're intended to do.
All I'm saying is, if it's truly beneficial, then give it out. If it's something small, don't bitch and complain about it if you dont' get it. Either way, nobody should expect to get it, but I think that they should if it would benefit everyone.
whoa.

It was already "given out" before, and now it looks like someone is running around making cheats that are only supposed to be possible with code from BHS.dll

I would have to agree with j baller here. If it benefits the game or community, then you should give it out. If he/she doesn't want to, it's his/her entitled opinion. But, if it is something like a cheat script and the person gives it away, we will just need to get renguard and ignore the situation.
the only thing I can say is this: ROFL!!!!

Actually.... he's not.
Insurance companies are run as a profit business, and they are rated based on what percentage of their premiums are returned as payments. Have you seen AAA-F ratings? Those are a combination of how customer service oriented they are, meaning, how easily a customer can file a claim and be reimbursed, as well as how high their administrative fees are, etc. To receive a triple A rating, a company must have an administrative percentage somewhere in the vicinity or lower than 30%. If they reduced the number of payments they had to make, and did not reduce the premium payments on the same scale, they would begin to run a higher profit percentage and immediately lower their ratings.. Insurance companies don't care how many people are sick, or well, or how many die.. they collect whatever they pay out realized over a 5 year span + administrative fees, and they adjust their premiums accordingly.. They wouldn't care either way if someone could be cured or not from any current illnesses.
Dr's, on the other hand, have a Hippocratic oath to consider..
The only people who stand to win or lose in a cure for cancer are the pharmaceutical companies.. and if you think they don't care either way, you're insane..

hydra1945 | What's the point of making a great script to improve the game and then not even distribute it so other people can build upon it and do even greater things with it? All that hard work of Silent_Kane's will have been in vain. What use would he have to keep it for himself if the object is to improve it for everyone?
|
Word*
*and since people don't like one word posts, I'll add that I humbly agree with Hydra while usually my opinions clash with his like two speeding trains on the same track.
To be honest it seems kind of like, if a Great book writer, wrote a great book, and then said no one can read it because they'll get inspiried by it and write Fan Fictions, why did he write the book in the first place then.
Oh and also I'm an Open-source-everything-free--build-on-it Linux fanboy so you can't blame me for having a romantisized view of things.
