djlaptop's SSC will eventually replace mac's as the official RenGuard Server-Side Client software. If you run a Renegade server with custom adminstration software, download this beta version and give it a shot!

Download now!

Remember, this software is for Renegade servers. It has gone through quite a bit of testing, but it needs more. Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Its the same non-working SSC I tested ages ago. It still consumes 100% CPU usage on connect, and then closes itself but leaves the resources eating process alive. It doesn't even run, let alone work with BR .Net.

I get the same thing on our machine. It goes into Not Responding mode.....and just sits there.

Unfortunetaly i have to report the same thing Sad

I configured it correct multiple times changing ports a few times etc (ones that are 100% not in use) and it just goes into "Not responding" right away.

Also crashed my taskmanager when i told it to bring it to front lol. :/

One thing is for sure: Something aint right somewhere :S

Well... it works on my servers. Either way, finally not being the only one with a problem doesn't give you the right to catch an attitude.

Guys, I've tested this on at least a dozen different configurations and I CAN'T get it to lock up. Can you tell me a bit about your systems? OS and other apps you are running? What's the last thing that shows up in the log (please turn verbose logging on) before it freezes?

Thanks ssptweek!

Do you have "Use Alternate Socket Method" enabled or disabled in the configuration? What happens if you change it?

I fixed a problem in the SSC that should fix the error message that ssptweek was getting (technically the problem wasn't in my code, but either way it should be fixed now). Run the update program and it will be installed automatically.

Please let me know if this solves your problems.

DJ,
Here is a follow up. I have already sent you an email with a bunch of other stuff in it sometime last week. After the update the RG program will not run at all. I get an error that says Failed to activate 'VBUser Control' Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application. This is Windows xp pro service pack 1 with 2 gb ram running br .net. Alternate sockets were set to default. Br net compatibility mode enabled. Did that stuff I sent you before help at all?
Thanks,
Ohno

Yes, thanks Ohno, I'm working with the stuff you sent me, but it's a LOT (3 mb) of data to go through. And a lot of the operations done by the process are windows API functions that I didn't even write, but are called from the programming language itself.

If the update caused the app to break, you will need to download the full install again from http://www.beaconpedestal.com/renguardssc/

Thanks for all your help!

stop using vb6, and 90% of these problems could be solved, SP5 came out before Windows XP, so there is no doubt that a lot of functionality on XP seems inconsistent and buggy.

Also a suggestion. I noticed that you have a public message/page for players who are not running RenGuard. But, for the server owners that want to use the option NOT to require RenGuard to join, could it be possible to have an option to give a public message/page for the players who are running RenGuard. And is it possible to write the player names to a text file?

Ok Guys I have had some success with the latest download from http://www.beaconpedestal.com/renguardssc
I have it running on Windows XP Pro 2 gb ram dual 1.2 Athlons, BR .Net, IRC, etc etc.
Here is what I did:
I uninstalled the SSC
Reset computer.
Turned off everything except antivirus.
Then I installed the SSC
reset computer
configured SSC
started FDS
turned Firewall off
I went online and it connected fine no problems.
started BR.net
then restored firewall allowing the SSC
That was almost 2 hours ago and it is still working fine.
Seems to work great it kicks people without Rg very quickly!
Good Luck
Ohno
