That sounds like the Golden God Mod, as mentioned an objects.ddb file modification. Objects.ddb is just a file inside always.dbs, inside renegade\data. Westwood seems to have implemented a sort of cheat protection system.. extract one of these important files and add it back to your data folder, and you won't see any game listings. Course, there are ways around this, which is how people got Final Renegade to work. 1 time not too long ago, someone was telling me how they got this mod to work on multiplayer.. I didn't believe them, so we joined a game and I watched him damage a medium tank with his repair gun. Of course, on my screen I couldn't see the red burn.
If you want the golden god mod, get it here http://www.renegadezone.com/ModsIndex/ListMods.asp?StartTitle=G and use it for single player. It's pretty neat, it gives you a repair gun with secondary-fire burn attack, shotgun, ramjet rifle and other weapons that are multiplayer only. You can repair your allies and allied vehicles, at a faster rate too. The best part about it is that you can jump really high. There are a few bugs though, one of which is sometimes the jump slowly returns back to normal.
