I know that these forums are for Renegade mostly, but I still hope that people here can help me with this misterious problem.
Ever since I re-installed my OS (WIN 98), weird things have been happening with the internet explorer (like it was not working, etc...). Then they somehow stopped happening, so it was O.K.

Few months after that, weird things started to happen again.
My internet connection (ADSL modem) requires me to use a program to connect to the internet (let us call it X). it works normally. But when I tryed to make it so that the X program runs on startup, the internet explorer did not work Surprised . So when I switched it back, it worked again Shocked . I somehow fixed that, so when the program called X started on the startup, the internet explorer worked again. That went on like that for some time.

After some time, I visited some unnamed websites, and on second day after that, the internet explorer stopped working again, so I made the program X not run on startup.

That was before I went for vacation for 3 weeks, and when I came back, for unknown reasons, Internet Explorer started to work again, so I decided to make it so the program X will run on startup again. Once I did that, Internet explorer stopped working completely, and this time, returning the program X back to the way it was did not help (I don't think that there is a problem with program X).

I installed adware, spybot, AVG Antivir, ZoneAlarm pro, removed all the spyware junk, and other unneeded data(there was lots of it, about 2GB), even removed some registry stuff that Adware makred as "bad", but could not remove it (it froze everi time I tried to remove that stuff, so I had to do it manually). I even re-installed IE like 3 times, and it still does not work (it still displays "page cannot be found"), so I used GSA for a while, and then switched to Netscape.

Yes I know that reinstalling Windows was a bad idea, but after I uninstalled Renegade, it would not install again (it showed some error or something like that), so I asked one friend what to do, and he tolld me that he had the same problem, but after he re-formated, it was fixed. I did not feel like re-formating so I tried re-installing, but I guess it was a bad idea(After I re-installed the Windows, the game still would not install, so I finnaly bougt the game(damm ripped wersion stopped working Mad  ), and it worked).

My Computer still works fine except that damm Internet Explorer. I know that I can continue to use Netscape, but I want to use IE! It is much better that Netscape, and uses less system resources, so it does not slow down my already slow computer.

One more thing, I think that I could fix this by un-installing internet explorer, a install it again (not reinstall). But I don't know how. help someone please!! Crying or Very Sad Crying or Very Sad

No, it is Bell sympatico because I live in Canada.

Aircraftkiller, what do you mean by that cartoon? If it is about the gramar and spelling, then that is the best I can do.
English I my second language, and I have been learning it for 5 years, and I am still learning. I am quite good at spelling, but gramar is much harder. If anyone has problem with that, I do not care

I tried removing Internet Exploder manually by just deleting all of the files, but I couldn't so then I used a Knoppix boot disc (Linux) I had and then tried removing the files, but I still can not. I think Microsoft made Internet Exploder un removable. Sad I hate IE I got so much spyware from it it's unbelievable, thank god Spy bot and ad aware were invented though, same with FireFox, It rocks!

I didn't knew Netscape still existed. Anyway, try Firefox. It's pretty good.

Thanks You helped me alot.

One more thing. I am getting a bit comfused. On the Microsoft website it says that you can just go to add/remove file and remove it, but on some other websites, it says that you need some kind of program to remove it. Well, I guess that I will use the IEradicator program, and hope for the best.

Yes I did that using ZoneAlarm long time ago. My computer now runs much faster.

On the Microsoft website it says that you can just go to add/remove file and remove it, but on some other websites, it says that you need some kind of program to remove it.

I may be wrong about this, but I *think* that might have been one of the issues involved in the anti-trust stuff vs. Microsoft. I think you couldn't uninstall IE from older versions of Windows, but part of the ruling was that you have to be able to do so now.

Again, I may be wrong about this, as I never actively tried to find information about it, but I think I remember hearing something to that effect.

Uninstalling IE doesn't remove the program itself, just the shortcut to access it.

Me neither, but in the case of IE, Opera is just so much better.
