Why do you need a water-cooled computer system? Does your computer generate as much heat as an automatic-firing machine gun?

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt (1918)

"The danger to political dissent is acute where the Government attempts to act under so vague a concept as the power to protect "domestic security." Given the difficulty of defining the domestic security interest, the danger of abuse in acting to protect that interest becomes apparent. --U.S. Supreme Court decision (407 U.S. 297 (1972)

I suspect he's just after a silent PC, as i was a little while back. If so, look into buying a case with 120mm fan bays and a PSU designed for silence (i.e Antec TruePower 380w), it makes a massive difference noise-wise.

I see no reason for water cooling unless you...
A) Live in a tropical country where the air is warm, making circulation fans pretty pointless.
B) As Engi says, have a computer that generates as much heat as an automatic-firing machine gun. Razz

You forgot one, it's cool and makes people think you are beyond the next curve in technology. Water-Cooling is the ultimate mod, changing the way the computer operatates on a fundamental level.

Mainly because it's just cool. Other than that my computer doesn't generate much noise, and I don't live anywhere real hot either, infact it's only gotten up to about 90 so far durring the summer, not bad.

You may be on to something there, but I would throw those 170 dollars into a bank account for the next time you need to upgrade a new computer part, like a faster processor or something, unless your computer needs an incredibly efficient coolant system.

Just from the specs, it looks like a decent entry-level water cooling kit. I think if you bought it you would probably learn alot, but don't expect to keep this kit forever. There will end up being some things you don't like about it, but it's all pretty minor stuff and you have to get your feet wet somehow.

Yes, you do need a radiator. It's what actually cools the water down. That and the fan. Which attaches to the radiator.

Need i remind you that if you have got watercooling, you can overclock your CPU to more faster ones than on the current market.

Watercooling is errr cool, but just for bragging rights. Get a SLK-478 an slap a 2500 rpm 80mm fan on it. Keeps my xp2500 mobile@ 3400xp 46 degrees full load. Pretty damn quiet. Cost about £35 so $55 ish

Water cooling is a tremendous waste of money unless you're running like a dual processor system with a really high quality graphics card, and overclocking all of it. Besides, I've heard tons of stories about the systems getting holes after a few weeks, at which point your computer's vitals get soaked and the place you bought it from denies your warranty rights.
