"This TYPE of file COULD harm your computer IF it contains malicious code."
- Notice how it says it "could" contain a virus.
- Notice how it says "if".
- And the TYPE of file is .exe = it is *possible* any exectutable application has a virus. You have to ask yourself, do you trust the ftp you are downloading from? Do you TRUST Westwood?
The answer is NO YOU HAVE NOT FOUND A VIRUS!
That program you use will ask you the same question every time you try and download a exe file (as long as you have that button ticked!).

How many hard drives have you burnt up this week Bumpaneer?
lol
oh....by the way.....how many hard drives do you have CyborgDC?
I have a 10 gig,an 80 gig hot swapable,and a zip250 for e-mail storage.......you think i could fill those up in a week or two?
I know my computer inside and out.....it's a work station and game machine.....nothing more....i dont keep important numbers on it.....i make frequent backups.....and i regularly reformat and install my OS and hardware drivers to prevent trojan virus attacks by just killing them.
I've had the same hard drive set up for two years now and i havent had to replace or upgrade any components other than the cpu cooler fan since i built it.
The point is......we here in the mod community trust Westwood studios.......they have always been up on their game......and if it's for download on their server(westwood ftp) then it's safe and virus free.
As i said before.......and i thought i was being tactfull enough...but i guess not.
Dont get afraid of getting a virus every time that window pops up.....it is poping up because you told it to pop up every time you download or open a new executable [.exe file format] .......if you are that concerned then get virus protection software.
Eric.

yeah...i play a lot of video games...but i dont think that makes me a computer nerd......i have over 200 software cdroms....got every console system i want on my pc via emulator technology....playstation,sega gennisis,nintendo,snes,N64,coleco vision, and for those oldies but goldies, atari 2600,2800,and 5200.
I have over 130 games for the nes emulator alone,40 for the N64,and 30 or so for the playstation.(all my roms are backups of console games i have purchaced over the years)
I back up all my game software,i have a safe that i keep all my original software cds in and i only use the copys.
i definately love gaming.....but i dont think that qualifys me as a computer nerd.
here's a hint on how old i am......i was 10 years old when the atari 2600 hit the comercial market.
or are you too young to even know what an Atari 2600 is?
Eric.

well......the ps1 games arent really roms....the ones i have are actually backup copies of games i have.......most of them i actually made images of and play them directly from my hard drive using a virtual cdrom emulator(daemon)
You will be lucky to find a working rom for the ps1 online......my suggestion would be to either use your original game cds or use copied game cds....either will work.
My ps1 emulator is a store bought copy of bleem.
Eric.
