what do i need to play AVI movies? I DL a couple episodes of "that 70s show" and it wont let me play them.

are you using a windows operating system?
if you are using windows 98 or newer you should be able to play them with media player.
i know windows ME media player v7.0~ has the AVI codec pre-installed.

uhh.....i gots win98 but it says it is missing components needed to play it, and when i allow it to connect to dl them, it says there are no new tools available.
in other words i need sometin diff than wmp

Maybe the episodes you have are bad. I can play avi's through windows media player on the XP system.(version 8, I believe?)

Ok, listen up. There are different compressions that can be used to make a .AVI movie. Just because your computer can play one type of .AVI doesn't mean it can play them all. The movies you have are most likely DivX, so you will need the codec. If you right click on the movie, and go to properties, you should be able to see info about it. You need to make sure you have both the video and audio codecs necessary to play the movie.
