Right, i downloaded the drivers update last time they release, and it totally screwed how GTA3 ran on this PC (which btw, is well above the recommended spec).
I permanently suffered from major framerate issues and slow down problems when trying to play the game.
Did anyone else have this problem?
Well even still, maybe they've fixed something with this update... so i'm downloading now. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

i have geforce 2 mx but i can't install new drivers. if i do, then i can't play any 3d games. and my computer crashes all the time..
i don't know what is wrong. i have to use the oldest driver to get games work! that suckkkkkksssssss..........................

ATI has also release DirectX 9 drivers for 2k and XP, and supposedly some new one for the rest of the windows line, but no DX9 support.
You can also download a public beta of DirectX 9 from microsoft, but it expires in march. This isn't a problem for me since I format my hard drive about twice a month.
Installing DX9 on my GF2GTS actually gave me a good 400 extra 3dmarks. from ~3400 to ~3900.
Maybe I'll install these new drivers and see how it goes

did you make sure you downloaded the XP drivers - not the 2000 drivers?
(that is - if your using XP)

"leaked" drivers - bad
"Bleeding" edge drivers are great if you want to discover all the bugs - but most people want to play games or mod....not wonder why they CTD all the time.
so i wouldn't recommend bad stuff unless you have alot of time on your hands...

I know this is a little off topic, but I'm becoming rather desperate.
I have a Nvidia TNT graphics card, and downloaded the new drivers 15 minutes ago. After the first reboot (the one mandated by the installation of new drivers), everything worked fine and the graphics problem I had with Renegade was fixed. But, I shut down my computer, go have supper, come back, and BAM!!!! My computer can't go above 720x526 reselution. Being one of those people used to 1124x1028, I just can't stand being in this low of a resolution.
What I want to know is if anyone else had this problem, and does anyone know how to fix it?

Havent heard of this paticular problem - did your try to reinstall the drivers?
also- is your monitor correctly setup in the display properties? it may of reverted to a less capable monitor...

npsmith i have the lastest drivers since this and when i went to play GTAIII all my menu was blurry. i reinstalled a bunch of times. but i cant firgure it out. anywho i hope this helps for 1

Don't know about you guys but that crap about a 25\% increase is just that, CRAP!
v40.41 (beta) are the best working so far for renegade. I have a gf4 ti4400 and only get 15fps (everything full including anisotropic + 4x antialiasing + texture smoothing) if i use the 40.72 but when on the 40.41 and same settings I get a minimum of 85 and max of 130fps.
In 3d mark 2002se I get close to 1500 more points using 40.41.
Just thought I'd put in my 2cents worth.

your milage may vary...
they seem pretty speedy to me...
