I woke up today and the main toolbar to the right was missing in gmax. I forgot how to bring it back.
Little help?

click on 'Revert to Start up ui' or something like that in the Customize drop down menu on the menu bar, than go back and click 'lock ui layout' in the same menu

Exactly the same thing happened to me yesterday. I loaded up mt gmax file and there was no right hand panel nor mally you press "3" to hide/unhide it but it seemed to be nowhere to be found. In the end i rebotted gmax and it seemed ok. Strange though it seems to be lost.

Sometimes I've seen that toolbar spontaneously get dragged off the rightside of the screen. The best way I've seen to get it back is to increase the resolution so you can (hopefully) see where it went and drag it back.

lemme guess, your resolution is 800x600?
change your resolution to and use 1024x768, it's much better
