I want people to give their opinions on this, but do you believe this is true? The best people on games start off with 56k's, develoup mad skill (too keep up with LPB's), then when they become LPB's they are of the best due to the fact they keep the skill that they learned when they're 56k'ers? I believe it 100\% Now remember, I just want your opinions, not a debate please.

I dont really think thats true, i played unreal tournament awhile back with a 56k and i sucked ass, when i got a cable connection a still sucked ass, but with the cable connection i could get better becuase my opponents didnt zip across the screen due to lag. If you want to become a better renegade player try playing quake 3 or unreal tournament for awhile, When i got renegade i was amazed by how slow everything moved it was somewhat easy to shoot someone due to this. But westwood did make up for it with a super SUPER tiny target zone, its amazing how small that **** thing is.

I'd bet a large sum... People give 56k-ers such bad reputations...we don't slow down games, really! The only person who gets hurt by a 56k IS the 56k. Other people's pings don't affect yours. I HATE getting warped around...but I can still kill mammoths, even when I warp into their sights repeatedly, so imagine how easy it'll be when I get DSL? I can't wait...

why doesnt anyone else understand this...when you are in huge games (40 players) people go asking who has 56 k. It makes no differece to gameplay. what makes it so laggy is the 40 players in the game. maybe if you have a good video card (increase fps) you won't have so much lag. I shall have the answer on july 17 (my B-day!!).

heard people with DSL complaining about the lag, and they stick it all on slower modems... Here's how it works: you connect to the host, and the host connects you to all the other players. If anything is lagging you, it's your ping rate to the host. The only effect a "lagging" player has on you is that you see THEM moving erratically.

My guide for becoming good: 1: Play excessive amounts of CS on a broadband connection to learn stealth and reflexes. 2: Play Deus Ex to learn how to ALWAYS aim for the head in order to do the most damage. 3: Play some strategy game in order to learn some tactics, when to fight, run, etc... 4: Keep playing to retain skills.

You made a mistake in your post. According to your signature, it's them, not THEM. Nouns are not abbreviations/acronyms!

I get all my skills from Deus Ex. You learn where to place LAMs, learn to hide, run without being noticed (without using the augs, of course. Renegade don't have augs. ****!). Deus Ex is the best game in the world.
