There is something called the "multiplayer test" this is a play version that is the same as normal multi only it is always on the under map and the enemy bots are extremely stupid.

Sometimes there's a thing called lag. You run into stuff but you can't see it, until a moment later.

And sometimes, just SOMETIMES, the lag can work the miraculous in your favor. I remember doing a hotwire/apc rush once, coming to the Nod entrance, and finding a bunch Mammoths blocking it waiting to screw me good! Well, lucky lucky lag, I just "jumped" right through them, and rolled into base, blowin' up their powerplant. Without the lag, I'd have been toast. Thanks Uncle Lag!!!!!
Problem is, Uncle Lag will more often molest you than help you out!

OK so I blew up the MCT of the dam after going down the elevator, and I end up in the back at the bottom (I can look up and see the power plant above me).

I know I'm supposed to take out the plant, but I can't get in cause a door at the bottom won't open. It has a green color over it, but I never saw any keycards. Is this supposed to happen? How do I get in?

There's an officer and some other Nod troops at the other end of the ledge you are standing on. If I remember correctly, that Nod officer has the keycard.

i don't think you need a key card to get up to the power plant. here is what worked for me. i shot the power plant from up above with my rockey launcher. it said "the power plant is being repaired internally, external destruction is not possible." the next time i checked the elevator, it was open.

If all you want to do is get past the obelisk, you dont even need to take out the power plant. Just take ur medium tank and charge right toward the obelisk, then run inside and c4 it. Not exactly the most tactical way to do things, but hey, it works.

Why is it that sometimes doors are closed, but randomly open up later? The same thing happened on a door shortly after the MCT, before I took the passageway to the back of the dam. I passed it cause I thought I couldn't get in, but I came back and it was open.

Just go right up to it, press the action button and wait.
At first I always had problems opening elevator doors, but not anymore.
I think the wait is because the elevator isnt on the floor you are on, and it has to get there first.
Just a thought.

all i did to destroy the obelisk was use the elevator (the one near it) and ran into the obelisk, get to the MCT, c4 and its gone
