The first rule of sniping "RELOCATE" the tactic you suggest would be most ineffective against a skilled sniper. A more efficient technique is to become a stealth trooper and work your way around to behind the enemy sniper emplacement and nail him with 3 pistol shots to the head.

out of experience in rainbow six i like to reveal as little of me as possible so what i do is i find somthing the same color as me crouch (i wish it werent a held button :\) and just snipe then duck awaygo to third person and watch for targets no matter how the guy may be moving i can generaly kill them i just have to be real carefull not to miss because every time i fire it puts off a flash that could give me away. anything large will provide adequet cover i just gotta know what is goin on around me. i love to snipe for expensive guys especialy the bottom 4 adv engie are my loved targets cause they normaly are staying within a small radius around a vehicle i dont often do repeat kills so i dont spur a man hunt i will repeat kill alot if the guy is being very newbish like standing still in the open. if some one shoots toward me thats when i kill them then move

Sniping is the best. Quit cring about geting killed every time your in his or her sights. If you were smart you would buy a Hum-vee or a tank or you could just wait until hes out of rounds then take his spot and kill him get 1 more person 1 can guard the other can kill everyone of them. That or just be a baby and leave! Thats what I say.

Um, david, a sniper could take out your humvee, especialy if it is a havoc or a sakura. and a well placed sniper would be in a place inacessable to a vehicle. also sneaking up with a stealth soldier and placing timed c4 on them is while overdoing it a bit still quite funny to see. People keep saying that snipers keep the infantry population low but have you forgotten that you can't actually kill anybody? they just respawn. All you can do is waste their money by taking out expensive characters. Personally I love to be a sniper once in a while. Sometimes you'll just find that little gap to hide in and pick off the enemy. The other day I was on c+c island(heres a quick tip for you all) and I was running forward to help take down a rush. Near your base, just next to the fortress bit(v. good for snipers) there is a v shape in the rocks. I looked through it and my vision was severely blocked. All I could see was gunners head. I nearly died laughing as he turned, saw me and "boink", bye bye. Snipers can be **** cool but perhaps WW could make it a little more interesting. Such as, if there were weak points on tanks eg. fuel tank, cannon that you shoot down to take out a shell etc. But would that make it too easy?

Snipers are absolutely NECESSARY against Sidney or Ravashaw swarms. 3-5 Sidney's will annihilate any flame/apc rush, and it is only the snipers that have a chance of controlling the Sidney population. Add to that everything else that has been said in this thread, I don't see how you can say snipers are useless.

Ahh... The 12th mission. My most hated mission. At the same time though, it is one of my favorites. I hated how hard it was, but I loved the detail and story put into it! The think with that psycho doctor woman was really cool, and totally unexpected, even after seeing that one guy be turned into a gigantic tiberium monster! Anyway, I try not to flame, but cheats are not needed for this game. Go somewhere else and ask, because very few of us supports cheating.

ever hear the term "stuck up prude"? This is a forum for talking about Renegade, so telling someone to go elsewhere because you don't agree with them is lame. People are talking all over these boards about "mods" and when "mods" are created for single player, that is way cool. When someone uses the term "cheat" to get the same result (like enabling the Recon Bike for Single Player), all the prudes show up and show their @ss. The original poster did not state what form of "cheat" he wanted. It could have been unlimited ammo, invulnerability, allowing multiple people to coop the single player game, it could have been anything. The next time someone talks about a Mod, insert the word Cheat and see if you are still going to be a prude about how you should feel others should play their own game. PS, I don't know of any actual cheats, but you can get Easter Eggs enabled. Hit F8 to bring up the promt and type extras fnkqrrm and hit enter. Then when you go into the Vehicle/Infantry selection, hold the Alt key down and new selections will show up. This only works in non laddered games for multiplayer and I think it works in Practice Mode. I don't know of any other easter eggs, but right now a lot of players are developing Mods for Renegade. In a month or so you should see a lot of Mods being passed around. [ March 14, 2002: Message edited by: eg ]

I am still having some trouble getting past some of the single player missions on Recruit and Soldier and was wondering if anyone has savegames for the Full Version of Renegade (USA) of all the Single Player missions? Thanks

hi, been having some problems each time I complete a mission. Sometimes when the video plays it just quits to the desktop. And its very choppy. SO I had to press on the Esc button. I'm using a 32MB GeForce 2 MX400 card, PIII-800MHz and 192MB SDRAM. Help...and thanks.
