Take a seat...ole' Harvy here is gonna tell you a story... There once was a boy, who wanted the latest greatest video game (he was young still and had not graduated to pc games), after much clamoring and pestering of his parents to buy him the $50 Greatest Game On Earth, and he recieved it. Upon reaching level two, much to his dismay a very tough boss blocked his way. He searched all the magazines he could (since he had no internet in the early 90's)to find a cheat code or "god mode" to help him with this foe. Lo, and behold, he found his "god" tome and brought it home. He whipped out his controller entered the code "U,D,U,D,L,R,L,R,B,A,B,A, sel, start" AH-HA it worked, none will stand in his way!!! And this poor boy, beat the Greatest Game In tne World over a single weekend. When his friends would tell of how hard this or that boss was, he would just stay quiet, not really feeling like a real gamer. And from that day forward he vowed a solemn oath to the terrible and feared Gamer Gods, that he would never use a cheat again (unless he beat the game and wanted to screw around with it) and would build up his skillz to such a height, that it would dwarf any "cheat" code in the land. And he did. Morale of the story: YOU PAID $50 FOR THIS GAME, WHY RUIN IT BY CHEATING!!!!

So you remember Contra, I loved that game but i played it enough to figure out how to beat it without the cheat. Funny that I still remember that code though. i tried it a few times but never bothered to finish the game with it. I used the old memorize and master method to win the game. I let my buddy use the code but he could never remember it so I memorized it by repeating it to him over and over again every time we played.

You people bother the **** out of me. If a person wants to cheat in single player, I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed. It was their 50 bucks, after all. And big deal, if somebody wants to cheat because they suck, let them! No reason to call them a n00b. It's not effecting YOU(it's single player, remember?), so why in the hell do you all gripe about it?

yeah... i do that too, i see cheating as "payback time" on the hard enemies that frustrated so much... although renegade doesnt really have too powerfull enemies.
