I have your answer - if you don't ever use the "WebWheel," go into MSCONFIG (98 and XP) and remove the "EM_EXEC.EXE" check from your startup - if you're running 2K, run a search for EM_EXEC.EXE - the only match SHOULD be the key you have to delete. After that your mouse works like it should.
