This may have already been discussed, but I just did this last night.
The HON upper entrance was unmined, so I ran inside to blow it up. when I looked down at the MCT from the upper walk way, there were mines around it. Instead of taking the time to go down and disarm them, I tossed all my C-4 from above and it landed on the MCT. I then tossed a few of my proxy mines down on the floor with theirs. When engineers finally came in they had a little suprise. It was beautiful.

Yup - this is always fun --- tossing C4 over the side --
but sometimes you get lucky and some enemy engie will run right in front of the tossed c4 - funny!

I love seeing the back entrance to the HON heavily mined on the flying maps. Just run up the ramp and jump in the window.

Spankinstein,
If you try that when I'm mining, you'll be in for a big surprise. I like to place a couple mines right inside the window where people like you land. Next time you jump through the window get ready for a big surprise!

I have yet to encounter mines on the inside upper level of the HON, but if I do, now I won't be suprised. Of all the buildings in the game, the HON on the flying maps has got to be the hardest to mine. Do you mine the outside ramps, the entrances, the window accesses, or the MCT?

What to mine? I always mine the MCT. Perhaps some mines on the ramp would be good as well, however GDI usually comes in a Humvee and heads straight to the door. Really depends on who you are playing. Do they know their stuff or not? If you know ahead of time, then of course you mine the ramp as well. I usually put like 3 mines on the ramp just to annoy them.
Having recon can help too. If I know a humvee/APC is coming towards the HON, then I will run to the HON and be ready.

The problem with mining the MCT is that you can just stand outside the mines range and toss the c4 onto it. Or, if the mines are more widely spread around the MCT, you step on 1-2 of them, then you are close enough and still alive. Or it costs too many mines.

Yeah, it's a tough call. Maybe do the ramps and back door then. Doing MCT saves on mines though and not everyone knows you can throw the C4, so it's rather a matter of chance.

One of my favorite past times in the game is placing a few prox mines within enemy prox mines. Makes for a nice surprise. Might not kill em, but weakens em.
